Disabled Revolutionaries & Disabled Revolution

March 19 @ 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm

$35

The role of disabled people in revolutionary struggle has been largely erased in the public memory. In truth, disabled people have played an important role in theorizing, planning, and enacting revolution across the globe; many of the great figures of history that you are already familiar with lived with significant chronic health conditions that informed their thinking and methods alike. Come and join us to learn about these lost histories, and the role that disabledness itself plays in shaping revolutionary consciousness and resolve.

There will be an open discussion and Q&A after the prepared portion, in which we will discuss how to adjust our tactics to fit our particular needs, limitations, and material conditions.

Below is a link to an audio outlining some of the guiding framework for this talk (15 mins)

Meet our guest presenter:
Shiphrah is a queer trans settler, multicultural grandchild of holocaust survivors, and ambulatory wheelchair user who is the lead coordinator for a local political education and mutual aid group for gender diverse people in the Vancouver area (email TransformationsOrg@protonmail.com for more info). She lives with multiple intersecting complex chronic disabilities defined by unpredictability, frequently oscillating between being visibly and invisibly disabled. She is a writer of political theory with a focus on capitalism/imperialism from a disabled perspective, and is a stalwart jewish anti-zionist voice speaking up for the total liberation of Palestine.
