DESCRIPTION:Intro to Rope Bondage is the first step for people interested in learning to tie with each other. \nThe emphasis of this course is to accompany the participants on their path into a joyful and safe practice of rope bondage\, Shibari/Kinbaku. We go through basic techniques\, knots & frictions\, safety and consent\, movement\, communication\, and artistic representation. Participants will be able to tie with each other in a joyful and interesting way. We understand each class as directed at both\, the person in ropes as well as the person tying. \nContents\n\n1st Friday per month: Single & Double column ties. The basic knots\n2nd Friday per month: Frictions and Hitches. How to keep the ropes in place\n3rd Friday per month: Upper body ties with multiple ropes – “Takate Kote”\n4th Friday per month: Lower body ties – Hip harnesses\n5th Friday per month: Wild card\n\nAll classes contain various aspects of safety and consent for shibari and other play. \nThis class is a great opportunity to try out these techniques. Solo participants are welcome\, and we encourage you to pair up with others or join an existing group. However\, please note that active practice for solo participants cannot be guaranteed. \nParticipants of the intro to rope series have free access to the open jam directly after the class.

DESCRIPTION:Play fighting is a completely different way of engaging with other people. The way we move\, think\, and relate to our environment changes in this type of interaction. This group activity lets participants challenge each other for a play fight. \nIn a safe environment\, participants can challenge themselves and each other to fight with each other in a playful and joyful way. Not winning but experiencing is the focus of this monthly event. At play fighting\, we will start with an introduction that covers motivation\, safety\, consent\, and expectations. \nAfterwards\, it’s the participants’ space and time to experience play fights themselves.

DESCRIPTION:If you are used to getting your feet tied up in knots on the dance floor\, we are offering a class to learn some versatile basics of partner dancing! We’ll be bringing all kinds of music out to rope folks in and play with connection through rhythm and laughter. We’re not ordering you to do any special steps or dances\, it is just a relaxed mood and exploratory play as you negotiate with your partner with some gentle touch and groovy sway. The Felwinters have been dancing the blues in Vancouver for about a decade and are jazzed to share and connect with the community through touch and song. \nThe class portion of the event goes from 3 PM till 5 PM and the social gathering directly afterwards goes till 9 PM. Tickets for the class include the social event. You can also just get your social event ticket and arrive at 5 PM to dance and enjoy the evening together in a safe(r) space.

DESCRIPTION:Our ropes are doing a lot. They hold tight\, get bent in all directions\, get tied in knots and frictions. They are exposed to sweat and tears and other things while making sure that nobody drops. So\, let’s give them the bit of love and care they deserve. \nThe evening is there for people to sit together and chat about what our ropes have already seen. Let’s give them the warmth of a flame and the coolness of jojoba oil. Let’s get the uneven tensions of individual fibres back in place and even out the ends. \nWith tips and tricks from our rope maintenance expert Daremo and materials needed to care for our tools\, we will spend the evening together to give our ropes the love they deserve and extend their lifespan. \nAnd for the crafty folks: We will be making some ropes. Bring jute twine if you would like to have your own rope.

Many of those are stumbling into these constellations on a trial and error basis and it takes a lot of work and effort to unlearn drilled in behaviours from the world of monogamy. In this class\, we are offering some general suggestions and many little tools to help people navigate poly and kink\, specifically power relationships. We are not telling you how you should do it but rather what problems can arise in certain situations and how to circumvent them or to deal with them head on.\n\n\n\nBring your curiosity\, some note taking material and as many of your partners and crushes as you can. This group activity lets participants challenge each other for a play fight. Not winning but experiencing is the focus of this monthly event. DESCRIPTION:Shibari Live Drawing differs from usual live drawing sessions in two major ways. For one\, the poses that can be reached with the help of ropes are very different from anything live drawing models could assume on their own\, e.g. suspensions.  \nOn the other hand\, those poses are short living\, which means that artists are not only met with unusual poses but also with less time to catch them.  \nIn two Shibari performances by different Shibari practitioners from the community\, the participants will meet different body types every time.  \nAll levels welcome\, all media welcome (photography is dependent on the performer’s individual wishes and only as long as it does not disturb the other participants).  \n\n\n\n\n\n
