Participants will be able to tie with each other in a joyful and interesting way. The basic knots\n2nd Friday per month: Safety\, consent\, and pre-scene negotiation\n3rd Friday per month: Frictions and Hitches. DESCRIPTION:The brain is part of your body\, come and stimulate that part by nerding out about the reasons behind. Why do ropes slide around on the body? Why do you pinch someone’s skin when you neglect Newton’s 3rd law? Why does a human resume a more comfortable position after a while? Why symmetry is not just aesthetics? What the f are memories of a future past? And why do I only have one sexuality and yet it is not mine? \nUpon multiple requests\, Georg Barkas is going to the chalk board and we will get those brain cells working. No worries\, there won’t be an exam and you can’t “fail” the class. We will be embarking on this journey into differential geometry\, quantum mechanics\, Noether theorem\, and a bit of Derrida in a fun and entertaining way. \nIn House AND Virtual Event!  \nIf you buy the virtual event ticket\, you will get a zoom link per email 24h before the class starts. Everyone\, in house participants as well as virtual participants will get access to the recording for 14 days after the event. Timezone is Pacific Standard Time.

DESCRIPTION:This month’s BIPOC Jam will be less structured and more like an open jam. Det’ele will open up the group and leave space for any topics people want to discuss and then the rest of the time will be for talking with people\, tying with people\, tying alone or tying around people. Det’ele will go over some intro rope skills if anyone wants to go over that and will be there to answer any questions rope newbies have. \nJust a reminder this rope jam is for people of the global South\, People of Colour and Indigenous\, Brown and Black people\, we love our White allies but this space is not for you. We hope to see you there! \nBring a friend!  \nTickets are PWYC with a suggestion of $15. \nAll skill levels welcome! Bring rope if you have some but some loaners will be available. Loaner ropes are not safe for suspension. \nImportant things to Know: \n\n\n– This is a *masked event* to protect our health\n– All levels are welcome\n– Come solo or in group\, make new rope friends!\n– Bring your ropes\, some loaner ropes are available on-site.\n– Be COVID-conscious: Stay home if you are unwell\, and take a COVID test before arrival.\n\nAccessibility info is below in the FAQ.\nFrequently Asked Questions:\nI have no experience with rope\, can I still come?\nYes! DESCRIPTION:Shibari Live Drawing differs from usual live drawing sessions in two major ways. For one\, the poses that can be reached with the help of ropes are very different from anything live drawing models could assume on their own\, e.g. suspensions.  \nOn the other hand\, those poses are short living\, which means that artists are not only met with unusual poses but also with less time to catch them.  \nIn two Shibari performances by different Shibari practitioners from the community\, the participants will meet different body types every time.  \nAll levels welcome\, all media welcome (photography is dependent on the performer’s individual wishes and only as long as it does not disturb the other participants).  \n\n\n\n\n\n

We go through basic techniques\, knots & frictions\, safety and consent\, movement\, communication\, and artistic representation. Participants will be able to tie with each other in a joyful and interesting way. We understand each class as directed at both\, the person in ropes as well as the person tying. \nCurriculum \n\n\n1st Friday per month: Single & Double column ties. The basic knots\n2nd Friday per month: Safety\, consent\, and pre-scene negotiation\n3rd Friday per month: Frictions and Hitches. How to keep the ropes in place\n4th Friday per month: Fundamental upper body tie – “Takate Kote”\n5th Friday per month: Wild card\n\nParticipants of the intro to rope series have free access to the open jam directly after the class.

DESCRIPTION:A workshop with Jillian Christmas \nI am arriving at the belief that all good poetry is erotic\, and that all erotic good is certainly poetry. Which is not to say that all “erotic” “poetry” is “good”. But rather\, that an access to eroticism is at the core of what makes any poetry anywhere any good at all. What I name here to be the most erotic of acts is the distribution and acquisition of attention.\n\nAll good poetry is erotic because it labours to carry us into closer relationship with our own humanity. All good poetry is erotic because it endeavours to salt our wounds alive! Erotic\, as it reveals\, examines and forgives our shifting moralities\, erotic\, as it begs us to confront our naked vulnerabilities – as it reminds us that we are merely flesh and bone and blood and sweat and breath and cum and spirit.\n\nIf eroticism is not evident immediately or explicitly in the language\, or imagery of a good poem\, undeniably it will be present within the ethos\, praxis\, and labour of the writing itself. A stretch toward freedom is embedded in the very need to carve the words\, to conjure a memory out of absence is an act fueled by desire; freedom is inherently erotic.\n\nA human being can be seen: waging every imaginable manner of irreconcilable war\, crafting innumerable dimensions of havoc – all while dreaming of a soft bed\, on the other side of the ocean of our destruction. Everywhere there are gnarled and tangled horsemen of some apocalypse\, yearning to distract us from the patient hands of a waiting lover.\n\nWhat is a revolution\, if not an opportunity to turn — our attention toward a most deserving direction. Connection. Love. The ache of caress. A willing and consenting witness to some deeply chosen movement. Your body desires you. Your body deserves you…lean into the erotics of your own attention. Make poetry of everything you notice. Our desires shape the world we create.\n\nThis is a writing\, being\, relating and moving workshop designed to be accessible for all bodies.\n\nOver 2.5 hours we will engage in gentle rope work\, reflection\, writing\, conversation\, and a depth of curiosity.\n\n\nPlease carry with you:\n\n\n– any small sacred items that help you to conjure\n\n– rope (at least a couple lengths. We have loaner ropes!)\n\n– writing implements\n\n– a love of consent\n\n– a partner (…if you like\, but not mandatory)\n\n– a spirit of play\n\n– an open mind\n\n– water (stay hydrated)
