Exploring Sadomasochism

February 19 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

$35

We tend to see certain images over and over in popular media: sadists who are cold, detached, brutal; masochists who are self-sabotaging and weak. As kinksters we know there are many more ways to be both of these things, but what are they and how do you figure out which fits you best? What is so fun about playing with pain?
Are you someone who likes pushing people emotionally and seeing their face squirm, or would you rather hit hard and ask questions later? Do you want to be quickly beaten into submission, or strung out for a long time before you get what’s coming to you? Is your inner sadist a schoolyard bully or a strict interrogator? As a masochist are you a pathetic punching bag or a steadfast devotee?

In this workshop, we will explore ways to find out what things really delight you about sadomasochism (from either side of it). Once we’ve identified these things, how do we integrate them into our self image? What does it say about us if we get turned on by torture? Discussion will include ways to affirm yourself, ask for support, and still maintain your power as a player.
