Studio Allegory is operated by Studio Allegory Intimacy Research Ltd. in the Province of British Columbia, Canada.
By accessing our website, registering for events, entering our premises, or participating in any Studio Allegory programming, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
1. Eligibility
You must be 19 years of age or older to attend any adult programming or events.
Government-issued photo identification may be required.
We reserve the right to refuse entry or service in accordance with applicable human rights legislation and safety considerations.
We operate in compliance with the BC Human Rights Code and do not discriminate on protected grounds.
2. Assumption of Risk & Release of Liability
Participation in rope practice, kink education, physical skill-building, embodied exercises, or other programming involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:
• Physical injury (minor or serious)
• Emotional or psychological distress
• Aggravation of pre-existing conditions
By participating, you acknowledge and agree that:
• You understand the nature of the activities offered.
• You voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation.
• You are solely responsible for determining your physical and emotional fitness to participate.
• You agree to follow all safety instructions provided by facilitators.
Release
To the fullest extent permitted under the laws of British Columbia, including the Occupiers Liability Act, you release Studio Allegory Intimacy Research Ltd., its directors, officers, employees, contractors, volunteers, and facilitators from liability for injury, loss, or damage arising from participation, except where caused by gross negligence or where liability cannot legally be excluded.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be waived under applicable law.
3. Occupiers Liability
Under the Occupiers Liability Act (British Columbia), occupiers owe a duty of reasonable care to ensure that persons entering the premises are reasonably safe.
You acknowledge that: Studio Allegory provides an adult educational environment involving consensual risk-aware activities.
You accept that certain inherent risks cannot be eliminated without altering the fundamental nature of the programming.
4. Community Standards & Consent
Studio Allegory operates on a consent-based, harm-aware model.
All participants agree to:
• Obtain clear, and ongoing consent.
• Respect boundaries without exception.
• Refrain from harassment, coercion, discrimination, or intimidation.
• Follow facilitator instructions and posted guidelines.
We reserve the right to remove any person whose behaviour compromises safety or violates community standards.
Removal may occur without refund.
5. Code of Conduct Enforcement
Studio Allegory may, at its sole discretion:
• Remove a participant from an event.
• Suspend or terminate memberships.
• Restrict access to specific programming.
• Refuse future service.
Decisions may be made without prior warning where safety is at issue.
6. Behaviour Outside the Studio
Studio Allegory is not responsible for conduct occurring outside its events or premises. However, where credible information suggests an individual poses a risk to the safety of our community, we reserve the right to restrict or deny participation.
7. Educational Disclaimer
Studio Allegory provides education and community programming only.
We do not provide:
• Medical advice
• Mental health treatment
• Legal advice
• Information shared during programming is for educational purposes only.
8. Payment & Refund Policy
Refunds
If Studio Allegory has to cancel an event, we will either refund ticket holders or transfer tickets to similar events in the future, depending on the wishes of the ticket holder.
Cancellation by participants:
• Cancellation before 48h prior to the start of the event entitles the ticket holder to a full refund.
• Between 48h and the start of the workshop, we can provide a partial refund (50% minus $3.50 processing fees.) or transfer of the ticket to a similar event in the future.
• No refund or transfer can be offered for no-shows or cancellation after the event has started.
Chargebacks initiated without basis may result in suspension of access.
All pricing is listed in Canadian Dollars (CAD).
9. Privacy & Personal Information
Studio Allegory collects, uses, and stores personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act (British Columbia) (PIPA).
We collect personal information for:
• Event registration
• Communication
• Operational and safety purposes
• Legal compliance
We do not sell personal information.
We may disclose personal information where required by law or where necessary to protect safety.
Participants may request access to their personal information in accordance with PIPA.
10. Photography & Confidentiality
Unless explicitly stated otherwise:
• Photography is permitted – express consent from all visible participants is required.
• Studio Allegory may document certain events for promotional purposes with prior notice.
• You may withdraw consent to use your image by contacting us in writing.
• Participants are expected to respect the confidentiality of others. Sharing identifying details about attendees without consent is prohibited.
11. Website Use & Intellectual Property
All website materials are the intellectual property of Studio Allegory Intimacy Research Ltd.
You may not:
• Copy, reproduce, or distribute materials without written consent.
• Use materials for commercial purposes.
• Attempt to interfere with website security or functionality.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted under British Columbia law:
Studio Allegory shall not be liable for:
• Indirect or consequential damages
• Emotional distress arising from participation
• Loss or theft of personal property
• Participant-to-participant conduct
This limitation applies whether liability arises in contract, tort, negligence, or otherwise.
13. Limitation Period
Any legal claim arising from participation or use of services must be commenced within the time limits prescribed by the Limitation Act (British Columbia).
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Studio Allegory Intimacy Research Ltd. from claims arising from:
• Your breach of these Terms
• Your negligent or intentional acts
• Your violation of another participant’s rights
15. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of British Columbia.
16. Amendments
We may update these Terms at any time. Continued participation constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
