What should I expect at my first visit?
We’ll show you around and explain the most important rules. It’s a relaxed, low-pressure environment – no experience needed.
Is this a queer-only space?
Studio Allegory is a space for the queer community and other marginalized and policed groups and “Friends”.
Friends are those who recognize and respect the need for spaces such as this, and who support those who are members of the queer community and other marginalized and policed groups.
Do you allow SOP?
The short answer is no. In order to keep our business license, city regulations require genitals to be covered at all times.
Do I need a membership to attend?
No membership is needed. A membership or punch pass can save you money depending on how often you attend.
Do I have to sign a waiver?
Yes. Everyone needs to sign a release of liability. It’s required by our insurance and confirms participants are of legal age.
Do I have to use my legal name?
No. Sign up with the name you use – we’ll only ever refer to that name. The waiver itself must be signed with your actual signature.
Is this space accessible?
Yes. Ground floor, no steps, all-gender washroom with handle bar, unscented soap, HEPA air purifier, and a quiet room with sensory tools. More info on our Accessibility page.
Can I rent the studio?
Yes, for both private and public events. Some house rules apply (e.g. noise levels). Have a look at our rental page for details.
