About This Event
If you are used to getting your feet tied up in knots on the dance floor, we are offering a class to learn some versatile basics of partner dancing! We’ll be bringing all kinds of music out to rope folks in and play with connection through rhythm and laughter. We’re not ordering you to do any special steps or dances, it is just a relaxed mood and exploratory play as you negotiate with your partner with some gentle touch and groovy sway. The Felwinters have been dancing the blues in Vancouver for about a decade and are jazzed to share and connect with the community through touch and song.
The class portion of the event goes from 3 PM till 5 PM and the social gathering directly afterwards goes till 9 PM. Tickets for the class include the social event. You can also just get your social event ticket and arrive at 5 PM to dance and enjoy the evening together in a safe(r) space.
Facilitator
Hugh and Sarah
Hugh (He/It) and Sarah (She/Her)
are play fighting and rough body play enthusiasts with a strong focus on safety and technique. Hugh has a background as a martial art instructor and together they spread the joy and fun of playful wrestling. Their background in partner dance is an additional influence that informs their way of moving and connecting in a multifaceted way.
Fine Print
Accessibility
Studio Allegory is on the ground floor and there are no steps anywhere in the space. There is a single washroom for all with a handle bar and an air hand dryer. We have unscented soap, and we run an industrial air purifier automatically. Studio Allegory has a kitchen corner with a kettle and a coffee maker, as well as a mini fridge and a microwave. Studio Allegory also has a quiet room equipped with fidget toys, colouring books, blankets, noise cancelling earmuffs, and stuffed animals. Upon request we can provide closed captions for our workshops running on a screen. We have masks for a small donation.
Cancellation & Refund
If Studio Allegory has to cancel an event: We will either refund ticket holders or transfer tickets to similar events in the future, depending on the wishes of the ticket holder.
Cancellation by participants: Cancellation before 48h prior to the start of the event entitles the ticket holder to a full refund. Between 48h and the start of the workshop, we can provide a partial refund (50% minus payment processing fees) or transfer of the ticket to a similar event in the future.
No refund or transfer can be offered for no-shows or cancellation after the event has started.
