About This Event

This workshop explores Andi’s (BelialX) and Lena’s approach to tying on the hashira. The hashira is not treated as a simple piece of equipment, but as an element that actively participates in the scene. The first part focuses on the fundamental principles required when working with a fixed, upright structure. This includes the technical peculiarities, the additional safety considerations, and the differences compared to free-hanging suspensions. A solid technical foundation forms the base on which everything else is built.

After this technical groundwork, the focus shifts to the creative and emotional possibilities that tying on a hashira offers. Instead of reproducing set poses or following predefined sequences, we will emphasize building a toolkit that allows for a wide range of moods, intensities, and possibilities. The hashira can offer support or take it away, can feel like a friend or a foe. The stories created with and around it matter more to us than copying any particular pattern.

This workshop combines technical, emotional, and creative input. We will cover different approaches and techniques to help refine and shape the interaction between the person tying and the person being tied.

Requirements – tying person

• solid suspension experience and confident upline management

• a suspendable upper body tie that reliably works for suspensions with your workshop partner

• A set of 10 ropes

Requirements – tied person

• awareness of personal emotional and physical capacities, and the ability to communicate them

• willingness to engage with an emotionally oriented style of tying

No previous hashira experience is required on either side.

Switching roles during the workshop is not recommended, as the schedule does not allow for covering both roles equally. One person ties, the other is tied. Participants can switch between exercises, though.

No specific physical abilities are expected. However, some exercises may not be possible for all participants. As with any form of rope bondage, limited flexibility, joint mobility, or general condition can lead to physical or emotional limits. In such cases, exercises should be skipped or replaced with an alternative. We will try our best to help you adapt the tie so it works for you.

Each pair is responsible for realistically assessing their own mental and physical capacities. Refunds cannot be given if certain exercises or the entire course cannot be completed due to physical or psychological reasons.
