About This Event
The documentary film The Artist and the Pervert offers a profound and unflinching look into the private world of Mollena Haas-Williams and Georg Haas. Moleena, an African-American kink educator and activist, and Georg, a celebrated Austrian composer, share a life defined by a complex Power Exchange (D/s) relationship that defies easy categorization. Their partnership serves as a living canvas where the intersections of personal desire, historical trauma, and artistic expression are vividly painted.
As we immerse ourselves in their unique dynamic, we move beyond the surface of their domestic life to encounter the broader social structures that inform it. The narrative invites us to witness a delicate dance between control and surrender, set against a backdrop of racial identity and cultural difference. It is a rare opportunity to see how two individuals navigate the nuances of radical honesty while maintaining a deeply creative and disciplined bond.
Following our time spent within the atmosphere of their story, we will transition into a live discussion with the creators of the documentary, Beatrice and Renée, moderated by Andrea Rimon. This conversation aims to peel back the layers of the production process and the ethical considerations of capturing such an intimate terrain. We will delve into the film’s core themes—including the complexities of D/s, the impact of race on personal power, and the evolution of kink as a tool for liberation—allowing for a deeper interrogation of the boundaries between the public and the private.

Renée de Sans
Renée is a visual artist whose work focuses on the body as a site of narrative, emotion, and presence. She explores identity, gender, and vulnerability, drawing on her experience as a trans femme. Her practice combines aesthetic precision with attunement to sensation and emotional nuance, transforming personal and shared vulnerability into moments of connection and resonance.
In her rope work, she engages both perspectives — being tied and tying others — combining technical skill with the subtle dynamics of trust, touch, and dialogue. She treats ropes as a medium for presence, emotional intensity, and storytelling. Through workshops, performances, and visual projects, she aims to create spaces where bodies of all identities can explore connection, play, and self-expression.
